Block the Bridge, Block the Bill
On September 7th, 2011 the British Parliament voted sweeping changes to the NHS. This bill will become law and open the doors for privatization of the public health care system in Britian should it pass the House of Lords on October 12th. This has dire consequences for not only the British people, but for other nations which provide a public system of delivering health services.
On October 9th, three days before the critical vote, there is a call for mass civil protest and disobediance. From their communique:
“On Sunday 9th October, just three days before the Lords vote, join UK Uncut in a spectacular act of mass civil disobedience to block the bill. By blocking Westminster Bridge we symbolically block the bill from getting from Parliament to our hospitals. Yes, it will be disruptive. Yes, it will stop the traffic. But this is an emergency and we have to shout as loud as we can.”
This will be a historically important vote which may have lasting cosequences for several generations of people living in Britian and potentially other nations as well. Make your voice heard.
